Northern Railway celebrates International Women’s Day

New Delhi, Mar 11: Northern Railway celebrated International Women’s Day at National Rail Museum, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi today. The occasion was graced by the presence of Jaya Varma Sinha, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer, Railway Board. Seema Kumar, Member, Operations & Business Development, Railway Board, Naveen Gulati, Director General / HR, Aruna Nayar, Secretary Railway Board, Dr. Sugandha Raha, Director General / RHS, Shobhan Chaudhuri, General Manager/NR, Sanneeti Chaudhuri, President, NRWWO and Pramila H. Bhargava, PCPO/ NR and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Jaya Varma emphasized the achievements of women employees in Railways. The function was preceded by a ten days long campaign comprising a series of events. Workshops on Legal Rights of Women and Stress Management were organized on 1st of March, followed by another Workshop on Menstrual Hygiene on 5th & 6th of March. A medical checkup for women employees was also organized on 6th March. To add a little fun to the celebrations, a cooking competition was organized on 07th of March, and a Rangoli competition on 11th March.

Women Achievers of Northern Railway and award winners in various events held on the occasion were felicitated by Chairman, Railway Board and other distinguished guests in the function today. A memorable cultural function on celebrating women’s empowerment was also organized on the occasion.

On this International Women’s Day, Northern Railway pledges to continue striving for an equitable workplace and to provide all facilities for its women employees to enable them to discharge their duties in a conducive & congenial environment.
